Medellín has just experienced one of the biggest electronic weekends of the year with the first edition of EDC Colombia. For two days, the city welcomed artists, travelers and fans around stages such as kineticFIELD, circuitGROUNDS and neonGARDEN, with names including Alesso, Deadmau5, Illenium, Boris Brejcha, Richie Hawtin and Above & Beyond.
But October does not end with EDC. The coming weeks continue with an interesting mix of music, food and city life. For visitors who stayed a few extra days, or travelers planning to come before the end of the month, there are still plenty of ways to experience Medellín without repeating the same type of plan. One of them is Medellín Gourmet. The food festival runs from October 1 through November 2 and brings together restaurants from different areas and culinary styles with special menus designed for sharing.
For travelers, it is an easy way to turn a meal into part of the journey: choose a neighborhood, walk around, discover a restaurant and let food become the main plan.
In Manila, that experience works especially well because cafés, restaurants and hotels are concentrated in a walkable area. Munayki Sloh, for example, is part of this edition with a Peruvian menu for two, connecting accommodation, neighborhood and gastronomy in one simple route.
Electronic music also returns to the spotlight at the end of the month. Ritvales 2026 will take place on October 31 and November 1 at Parque Norte. Medellín’s official guide presents it as Colombia’s largest open-air electronic music festival, with two nights focused on house, techno and progressive sounds.
That makes October an especially interesting month for travelers who organize trips around music. EDC opened the month with a large-scale experience, while Ritvales closes it with a proposal more connected to rave culture and electronic sounds. Between both events, the city keeps its everyday rhythm: cafés, restaurants, neighborhoods, museums, walks and quieter nights.
For those coming to Ritvales, the logic is similar to any festival trip: choose the right area to stay, rest well, avoid overloading the schedule and leave time to experience Medellín outside the event. Morning coffee, a relaxed meal, a short walk through Manila or El Poblado and an afternoon of rest can be enough before a long night.
October also shows something important about Medellín: it is increasingly easy to travel to the city for one specific reason and end up discovering many others. Someone can arrive for a festival and find a restaurant. They can come for food and end up at a concert. They can choose accommodation for convenience and discover a neighborhood they had not planned to visit.
That mix is one of Medellín’s strengths as a destination. The calendar changes, but the city keeps combining music, food, design, culture and urban life.
So after EDC, Medellín does not go quiet. It simply changes rhythm. October still has plenty to offer, and the best way to experience it is simple: choose a few good plans, enjoy each one with time and leave room for the city to surprise you.
